Silver Golub & Teitell (SGT) was named Litigation Department of the Year for Class Actions at Law.com’s 2026 New England Legal Awards, held at a gala in Boston on October 8. The firm was the sole recipient in the category. Managing partner Peter Dreyer was named the winner of the Legal Innovators and Disrupters award, and partner Sarah Russell was named a Connecticut Rising Star.
The New England Legal Awards recognize attorneys and firms across Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, and Vermont.
Litigation Department of the Year: Class Actions
The award follows a year in which SGT’s class action lawyers secured a $30 million settlement with Google and YouTube on behalf of children whose personal information was collected without parental consent, a case that produced a landmark Ninth Circuit ruling opening the door for families to recover damages under state law for conduct that violates the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA).
Peter Dreyer: Legal Innovators and Disrupters
Managing partner Peter Dreyer won the Legal Innovators and Disrupters award, which recognizes attorneys bringing new approaches to the practice of law. In January, SGT launched SGT Docket Rocket, a free application that gives attorneys and the public near real-time alerts on Connecticut court filings and orders. Dreyer led the project with partners Sean McElligott and Ian Sloss, and the firm made it available to the legal community and the public at no cost.
Sarah Russell: Rising Star, Connecticut
Partner Sarah Russell was named a Rising Star for Connecticut, an honor recognizing lawyers under 40 who have demonstrated notable professional accomplishment. Russell represents people harmed by medical malpractice, product defects, physical and sexual assaults, and motor vehicle collisions. She helped secure a $49 million medical malpractice verdict this year for a Darien woman whose cervical cancer went undiagnosed, among the largest verdicts in Connecticut history.
Presented annually by Law.com, the New England Legal Awards celebrate the region’s most accomplished law firms, attorneys, and legal departments.
