Football helmets are the motif of choice in John Niski’s office at Shelton High School.

Sure, there are trophies and baseball caps and everything else. But somehow, “Gaels” always looks better when it’s written in script on a milky white helmet.

As much as Niski likes to display his helmets, the longtime athletic director values them for their work protecting his players — and their brains — on the field.
