Democrats refuse to release subpoenaed Malloy campaign emails

June 17, 2015

Democrats have refused to turn over campaign emails to the state’s elections enforcement agency, which subpoenaed them as part of an investigation into Gov. Dannel P. Malloy’s re-election campaign funding.

State Democratic Party lawyer David Golub wrote the state Elections Enforcement Commission Monday, saying that the agency does not have jurisdiction in the matter. Hearst Connecticut Media obtained a copy of the letter.

The commission is investigating whether the governor’s campaign illegally used money from the state Democrats’ federal fundraising account to circumvent Connecticut’s strict campaign finance law.
