Neiman Marcus Online Account Data Breach

On Thursday, September 30, 2021, retailer Nieman Marcus announced that 4.6 million customers’ sensitive personal information had likely been compromised in a May 2020 data breach. According to Nieman Marcus, an “unauthorized third party obtained personal information associated with certain Neiman Marcus customers’ online accounts.”

The information obtained by the hackers, according to the company, likely includes:

  1. Names
  2. Contact Information
  3. Credit Card Numbers & Expiration Dates
  4. Neiman Marcus Gift Card Numbers
  5. Usernames
  6. Passwords
  7. Security Question(s) & Answer(s)

In the wrong hands, this information can be used for a number of nefarious purposes including identity theft and spam.
