In Court and Out, Partner Ernie Teitell Is in It for the Long Run

June 5, 2025

At 72, Silver Golub & Teitell partner Ernie Teitell has no plans to slow down – either as a trial lawyer or as a distance runner, according to Law360, which published an article noting that Mr. Teitell completed his 21st marathon earlier this year.

Mr. Teitell, a leading medical malpractice and serious personal injury lawyer in Connecticut, ran his first marathon in Philadelphia at the age of 27 and ran a dozen marathons over the next decade. He returned to the sport to celebrate his 60th birthday, and has run nine marathons since then. Finishing the Tokyo marathon in March, he has completed the six major marathons that make up the Abbot World Marathon Majors, which also include Berlin, Boston, Paris, London and New York.

There's a clear overlap between being a trial lawyer and training for a marathon, Mr. Teitell told Law360.

"Running a marathon is about perseverance – keep your head down and keep going through – and a lot of these cases, that's what you have to do," he said.
