Ugo is an Associate in SGT's Class Action & Complex Litigation practice groups. He is a multilingual, multicultural attorney with 19+ years of legal industry experience, focused on domestic / international corporate litigation and investigations related to the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA), and/or intellectual property litigation, and/or privacy statutes (HIPAA, CCPA, GDPR, CPRA, etc.), and/or shareholder litigation, including class-action.

Mr. dePunzio is an active member in good standing of the State Bar of California. His recent work primarily involves domestic and international corporate litigation and investigations, usually related to Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA), and/or intellectual property, and/or privacy statutes (HIPAA, CCPA, GDPR, CPRA, etc.), and/or shareholder litigation, including class-action. His governing philosophy is “no job is too big, or too small” and Ugo prides himself on his hands-on approach. Over the years Ugo has developed a reputation among clients, vendors, and colleagues as being results-driven while conducting himself an approachable manner. He is highly knowledgeable in software licensing, particularly focused towards mitigating litigation risk associated with open-source software.

Mr. dePunzio has an M.B.A. in International Finance and B.A. in Economics, and is intimately familiar with advanced financial principles, discounted cash-flow analysis, probability-based valuation models, and risk management in accordance with parametric criteria.

Prior work experience in the financial industry and capital markets required holding (currently inactive) Broker/Dealer (B/D), Series 7, and Series 55 licenses, which entailed a keen understanding of applicable regulations of the relevant regulatory agencies such as the SEC and FINRA, in addition to the daily operations involving high-volume arbitrage (stock and options) trading.

Mr. dePunzio has native or advanced professional fluency in five languages (French, Spanish, Italian, Portuguese, and English), and remains current with most recent relevant software applications, particularly those involved in attorney document review, such as Relativity (among others).
