Attorney at SGT is President of the Connecticut Association of Nurse Attorneys

STAMFORD, CT, May 18, 2011: Kathleen L. Brandt, a partner in the Stamford law firm of Silver Golub & Teitell LLP,is the new President of the Connecticut Chapter of the American Association of Nurse Attorneys. She was elected to the position at the organization’s annual spring meeting.

The American Association of Nurse Attorneys (TAANA) is a non-profit organization made up of nurse-attorneys and other nurses interested in legal issues as they relate tothe health care industry. Founded in 1982, TAANA serves as a resource to its members and the public. The Connecticut Chapter of TAANA interfaces with a variety of professional healthcare, nursing and legal organizations.

Brandt said, “I’m honored to take on this role.I look forward to raising awareness aboutthe unique qualifications of nurse attorneys and the value they bring to so many parties within the healthcare system.”

Attorney Brandt has focused her work at Silver Golub & Teitell on significant medical malpractice litigation, with a special interest in birth trauma. She has litigated a diverse array of medical negligence cases.In addition to the Connecticut Association of Nurse Attorneys,Brandt is active in the Connecticut Trial Lawyers Association,American Association for Justice and the Connecticut Bar Association.She currently serves on the Board of Governors and the Executive Committee for the Connecticut Trial Lawyers Association.

Prior to becoming an attorney, Brandt had a career as a registered nurse.
