SGT Announces Scholarship Recipient at Quinnipiac University School of Law

-- The Stamford, CT, trial law firm of Silver Golub & Teitell LLP has announced the 2010-2011 recipient of its Merit Endowed Scholarship at Quinnipiac University School of Law --

STAMFORD, CT, February 28, 2011: The trial law firm of Silver Golub & Teitell recently announced that Maura P. Crossin of Bridgeport is the 2010-2011 recipient of the Silver Golub & Teitell Merit Endowed Scholarship at Quinnipiac University School of Law.

The award is given annually to a law student at Quinnipiac University and is based on merit. The scholarship was established by Silver Golub & Teitell as a reflection of its commitment to maintaining the highest standards of the legal profession.The firm also sponsors an annual lecture series at the school.

Two of the firm’s name partners, Ernie Teitell and Richard A. Silver, have received honorary law degrees fromthe school. In addition,Teitellis currently the chair person of the Dean’s Council,has been an adjunct professor of trial practice for more than 23 years, and also received the Barrister’s Award in 2005 for service and dedication to the students.Silver has lectured on a variety of topics, and has served on the School of Law’s Dean’s Council since 1982.

Teitell said, “It is our privilege to have a long-standing relationship with Quinnipiac University School of Law, and the scholarship award helps affirm our belief in the importance of the school’s high quality programs.We are pleased to support this deserving law student with our merit scholarship.”

Maura P. Crossin, the 2010-2011 scholarship recipient, is enrolled in the part-time evening program at the Quinnipiac University School of Law.In addition to school, she works as a family violence victim advocate for Domestic Abuse Services. Based in the Stamford Court as part ofthe Domestic Violence Docket Team, Crossin assists victims of domestic violence crimes as they navigate the criminal court system.

Crossin’s work with victims of domestic violence has helped fuel her efforts as a law student.“Observing what my clients go through during these times gave me the drive and ambition to obtain my law degree,” she said. “When I saw the scholarship from Silver Golub & Teitell, it was like a little weight was lifted off of my shoulders....it is an honor to be the recipient of this award.”

Brad Saxton, dean of Quinnipiac University’s School of Law, said, “Endowed scholarships are extremely important to the law school. They area key component of our strategic plan to enhance the law school’s national reputation for academic excellence. We are able to use endowed scholarships,like the Silver Golub & Teitell Merit Endowed Scholarship, to attract and successfully recruit applicants who have been competitive for admission at many other fine law schools.”
