cases, the Catholic Church was the first target

for widespread civil litigation. Then came

Hartford’s St. Francis Hospital, with the scores

of young patients subjected to a former doctor

who molested them in the guise of conducting

adolescent growth studies.

And now, claims against the Boy Scouts of

America appear to be on the rise.
