Bill McElligott is an Associate in SGT's Class Action & Complex Civil Litigation practice groups. He came to SGT after working for more than 20 years in a small family practice where he worked on a wide range of civil and criminal matters. Bill strives to live by the motto “let your problem become my problem” and his extensive and multi-faceted civil and criminal law experience is a valuable asset in assisting his clients and fellow attorneys at SGT.
His prior case experience ranges from Small Claims Court cases to Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court matters and almost everything in between. Most recently at SGT, Bill litigated on behalf of a putative class of private hedge fund investors against the United States asset manager Allianz Global Investors U.S. LLC, a subsidiary of the German insurance company Allianz SE alleging they suffered billions in losses as a result of an long running multi-billion fraud. After nearly two years of litigation, and a denial in substantial part of AllianzGI’s motion to dismiss, SGT’s clients entered into settlements agreements with Allianz on confidential terms.
Bill also works on In re Epipen Direct Purchaser Litigation, in which SGT serves along with co-lead counsel as part of a committee litigation against manufacturers of brand name EpiPens alleging a price-fixing conspiracy in violation of antitrust laws and RICO which results in direct purchaser wholesalers paying inflated prices for EpiPens.
