Joaquin L. Madry has significant experience litigating major catastrophic injury and wrongful death cases in federal and state court. He has tried numerous cases to verdict and has recovered more than $74 million for clients.

Since joining the firm in 2018, Joaquin has built an extensive record serving individuals and families who received substandard medical care or who were the victims of negligence, including:

  • A $16.5 million settlement for a young woman who was catastrophically injured by a tractor-trailer on I-195.
  • An $8 million settlement for a woman who suffered an amputation because of improper medical treatment.
  • A $5 million settlement for a family whose son committed suicide because of school bullying.

Joaquin currently represents the family of a 5-year-old boy who went unattended for 10 minutes after he collapsed on a school playground and later died.

He was previously a member of a prominent Connecticut defense firm, experience that informs his work for plaintiffs. Joaquin is a frequent speaker on trial skills, advocacy, and career building. He is board member of the Lawyers Collaborative for Diversity and the Connecticut Trial Lawyers Association and is active in the Crawford Black Bar Association and the American Association for Justice minority caucus. He has been recognized by Law & Politics magazine as a Connecticut Super Lawyer every year since 2011.   • A $16.5 million settlement for a young woman who was catastrophically injured when she was struck by a tractor-trailer on Connecticut's I-195.

  • A $25 million settlement (as second chair) for a woman who suffered a brain injury because of a hospital’s failure to monitor her preeclampsia.
  • A $2 million settlement for a delay in diagnoses of metastatic adrenal cortical carcinoma in a minor.
  • A $1 million settlement for an athlete injured in an unsafe competition.
  • A $1 million settlement for burn during a laser treatment.
  • A $6 million settlement (as second chair) from a death arising from a robotic surgery.
  • A $1 million settlement for an eye injury (loss of vision) due to an unsafe sporting event.
