Paul Slager, a partner, handles cases stemming from catastrophic events involving medical malpractice, serious accidents, defective consumer products, sexual abuse, discrimination and sexual harassment. He also represents small businesses and individuals in significant business disputes. Paul has received numerous honors: he has been listed in both Connecticut Magazine and New England Super Lawyer Magazine as a Connecticut Super Lawyer every year the lists have been published. He is also rated by Martindale-Hubbell as "AV Preeminent," the highest possible rating of legal ability and ethical standards based on peer reviews by attorneys and judges familiar with his legal work. Medical Malpractice, Brain Injury and Serious Injury Cases Paul represents clients in a wide variety of complex medical negligence, brain injury and serious injury cases. His practice focuses on cases involving the most serious injuries, including death and debilitating permanent disabilities. Paul has special interest and experience working with children and adults who have suffered brain injuries during childbirth or as a result of other trauma. Since July 2008, he has served as President of the Board of Directors of the Brain Injury Association of Connecticut, Inc., a nonprofit dedicated to improving the lives of Connecticut brain injury survivors. He also is an active member of the National Traumatic Brain Injury Litigation Group of the American Association of Justice, and attends national conferences focused on cutting edge issues related to representing survivors of brain injury. His piece, "Tackling Head Trauma: the Concussion Problem in Sports" was recently published in the Sports Litigation Alert, a national publication for legal professionals practicing sports law. Business Disputes and Commercial Litigation Paul also represents businesses and individuals as plaintiffs in significant cases involving business disputes or commercial litigation. Before joining Silver Golub & Teitell, he was a litigation and trial lawyer in Chicago, where his practice focused primarily on complex commercial litigation, including business torts, contract disputes and securities litigation. Sexual Abuse and Discrimination Cases Paul has also obtained significant recoveries for Connecticut victims of sexual assault and sexual abuse, as well as victims of sexual harassment and discrimination in the workplace. He has handled many high profile civil cases in Connecticut against priests, therapists and Boy Scout leaders on behalf of clients who were victims of sexual abuse while minors. In connection with his representation of Connecticut victims of sexual assault, Paul is a member of the Connecticut Bar Association's Committee for Victims of Crime. Background Although his law practice is focused in Connecticut, Paul has successfully represented his clients in trials, hearings, arbitrations and mediations around the country. He is admitted to practice law in the state courts of Connecticut, New York and Illinois, and has handled or assisted in cases pending in the state or federal courts of Connecticut, New York, Illinois, Delaware, Georgia, Montana and South Dakota. He has also worked on a number of appeals, and successfully argued before the Paul received his law degree from the University of Michigan Law School, and his undergraduate degree from the Honors College of the University of Michigan. He is admitted to the State Bars of Connecticut, New York and Illinois. Paul is also admitted to practice before the United States District Courts for the District of Connecticut, Southern District of New York, Eastern District of New York and the Northern District of Illinois (including the Trial Bar), as well as the United States Courts He is an active member of the Connecticut Trial Lawyers Association, currently serving on its Board of Governors, and as a member of the Continuing Legal Education Committee, the Medical Malpractice Committee and on the Editorial Board of The Forum publication.
