Attorney Bios
Since joining Silver, Golub & Teitell in 1998, Kathleen Brandt has focused her work on significant medical malpractice litigation with a special interest in birth trauma. She has litigated a diverse array of medical negligence cases, including birth trauma resulting in infant brain damage, maternal death, shoulder dystocia, or maternal injury; delayed diagnosis cancer medication errors; failure to timely treat infection, etc. As reported in the March issue of the Connecticut Law Tribune, Ms. Brandt recently litigated a maternal death case,Yussuf v. Trias, that settled for over 4.6 million dollars. Ms. Brandt is active in several professional organizations, including serving as co-chair of the Connecticut Trial Lawyers Association (CTLA) Women's Caucus and past Chair of the American Trial Lawyers Association Women's Caucus (2005-2006). She also serves on the Board of Governors for both the CTLA and the American Association of Justice (AAJ). She is a member of the AAJ's Professional Negligence Section and Birth Trauma Litigation Group. She is also a member of the Connecticut Bar Association and the Connecticut Association of Nurse Attorneys. In 2005, Ms. Brandt was honored to receive the New Leaders in the Law Award, given by the Connecticut Law Tribune, for Service to the Bar. Prior to becoming an attorney, Ms. Brandt worked for many years as a Registered Nurse in both New York and Connecticut. She has been a member of Sigma Theta Tau, (the Nurse's Honor Society) since 1990. Ms. Brandt received her BSN, magna cum laude, from Western Connecticut State University. She graduated from Pace University School of Law, magna cum laude, practicing law in New York for two years prior to joining Silver, Golub & Teitell.
