Lawsuit Filed against Town of Greenwich for Negligence

May 17, 2016

GREENWICH -- Peter M. Dreyer, a partner of the Stamford law firm of Silver Golub & Teitell LLP, has filed a lawsuit on behalf of Todd Collins and his family against the Town of Greenwich.

According to the lawsuit, on September 4, 2015, Mr. Collins was exiting his van in front of a residence on Benjamin Street in Old Greenwich when a tree fell on him, causing traumatic brain damage and other serious injuries.

According to the lawsuit, on at least two occasions, the Town of Greenwich received complaints about the tree being a hazard. One of those complaints was from a homeowner who contacted the Town of Greenwich Tree Department to report that the tree was “half dead” and to report that he was told by an arborist that the tree should be inspected by the Town of Greenwich. In another complaint, a homeowner reported that he felt the tree “will become a hazard soon.”
