STAMFORD -- Over the strained objections of his ex-wife's attorney, a Stamford judge will allow John Michael Farren, a former White House counsel, to represent himself in a civil case where his wife is asking for millions in damages for allegedly almost beating her to death with a metal flashlight more than three years ago in their New Canaan mansion.
